In a significant acknowledgment of the humanitarian efforts of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) praised the Iranian nation for providing vital support to about three point eight million refugees over the past four decades, despite the current economic challenges and regional instability, Iran continues to be a major host for displaced populations, primarily from Afghanistan and Iraq.
According to the Iran News Agency, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said "Iran has remained steadfast in its commitment to offering health services, education, and livelihood opportunities to refugees. The country currently provides essential support to Afghan and Iraqi refugees, ensuring their integration into society. The UN agency highlighted that 33,000 refugees in 20 designated settlements across Iran are receiving direct food, education, and livelihood assistance through WFP programs."
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) commended the Japanese government for its financial contribution of three hundred and sixty US dollars to bolster refugee aid programs, disclosing that the funding would be used to enhance food security and other vital services for Afghan and Iraqi refugees residing in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On the other hand, the Japanese Ambassador to Iran, Tamaki Tsukada, emphasized that Japan had been supporting the displaced communities for over forty years and would continue its efforts to help alleviate the burden on the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In his words, Tamaki Tsukada said, “Iran has provided Afghan refugees with access to education and healthcare on the same level as its own citizens. This is a commendable step in ensuring their well-being."
It was believed that the recognition of the United Nations of the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran underscores the importance of sustained global support in addressing the ongoing refugee crisis. As international contributions increase, refugees in Iran might receive better access to food, healthcare, and education, ensuring a more stable future for those displaced by conflict and hardship.
