CORRECTING THE WRONG "MALE IMPRESSION" AND SALVAGING THE FUTURE OF ANAMBRA STATE... A SUPPORT FOR SENATOR UCHE EKWUNIFE AS THE NEW PARADIGM
BY OBALLUM GEORGE
The result of decades of unchallenged but dysfunctional notion on the role and restricted domain of women involvement in Anambra politics, seems to have been reenacted, reinvigorated and sold out by some politically fearful aspirants in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
While I may not rephrase the obnoxious and callously sponsored rhetorics, it is instructive to note that nature has endowed men and women with equal but diverse potentials, whose development, nurturing and applications depend on the individual so endowed.
The uncivil, archaic and empirically unsupported argument on the 'maleness' of the office of the Governor of Anambra state is the latest joke being peddled, propagated and spread by some hungry, bread seeking and disillusioned chauvinists as the only basis for the continuation of the poor governance meted out to ndi Anambra by the successive male dominated administrations.
Perhaps, ndi Anambra can recall the audacity, brilliance and delivery by some female Federal appointees from our dear state in particular and Igbol land in general. The gender prejudices being championed as their major resort can not be sustained any longer amongst the forward thinking ndi Anambra, who earnestly seek a non-gender based leadership in the efforts to resuscitate the comatose and debt-strained economy of the state.
Distinguished Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE (IYOM) represents this yearning by the distressed, traumatised and development deprived people of Anambra state. The grass root people who have been alienated from government due to the non conduct of the local government elections, the wonderful and brilliant youths whose survival opportunities have been truncated by bad leadership in Anambra, the elderly men and women, who have been forgotten and relegated, are no longer interested in whether a woman is the Governor but for good governance to be restored to our afflicted state.
It is time to incorporate our native and traditional believe in our women as mothers into the political space, particularly for the governorship seat. An average man can entrust total governance of his family to the able and secured hands of his wife or mother with such assurance that can baffle even the creator. Men believe that women and mothers have special role bequeathed to them in the management of whatever that is within their care.
This is the testament to the leadership and administrative traits which the Almighty endowed women with and which can be explored and exploited rightly for the overall good of ndi Anambra in our quest to change the ugly political and governance status quo.
This is where Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE (IYOM) becomes a veritable and ready-to-use vessel of honour to actualise the sanity, developmental outlook, general and inclusive growth of Anambra state. Let us not make the mistake of choosing otherwise!
An unrivalled and unequalled supporter and advocate for inclusive and grassroot governance through the instrumentality of a functional local government system with elected (not appointed) executive and legislature, distinguished Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE (IYOM) has proven that governance has no gender colorations and connotations.
Gender inclusion in the campaign for the occupant of Agu-Awka government house come 2022 by some unprepared and unscrupulous political actors and naysayers must be rejected by all men and women of good will for the overall interest of ndi Anambra. The capacity and tenacity of purpose and the collective bargain of ndi Anambra to elect the most audacious and development conscious Governor should not be mortgaged on the alter of Gender biases and malevolence.
Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE has a bold record of achievements and delivery and the preoccupation of ndi Anambra now should be to join hands with UCHE NDI ANAMBRA 2021 for a victorious 2021 governorship election.
Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE is the new paradigm away from the hawks and predators that have usurped and pocketed our state patrimony for their generation unborn.
